Explaining links
Links
to and from websites are important, but there is more than one
type. You can have one-way, reciprocal and even three-way links!
So which work best with the search engines, and indeed which are
not worth the effort?
One-way links
A one way link is a simple link from one website to the other.
For example, if you link to a web site but that site doesn't link
back to you then it's a one-way link from your site to their site.
Reciprocal links
Reciprocal links are friendly links agreed between two website
owners. You send visitors to the other site and the other website
sends visitors back to you. All visitors leave a website sooner
or later so what could be friendlier than pointing them toward
websites that send you traffic in return.
Three-way links
Think triangles! You link to website A, who links to website B,
B links to C and C links to A. That’s your three-way linking.
Which is best?
None of the link types above is worth more than the other. Any
quality inbound links will help you to get higher search engine
rankings, but it's important that the links to your website are
from related sites and on-topic. A link from a popular and relevant
website is worth a lot of links from low ranking sites.
Beyond
this, there are extra techniques that can be employed, which involve
detailed research on your competitors' websites, and an analysis
of their content. This can really reap benefits, and is part
of the inexpensive service we offer.
